Having a Website That Makes Money by Jacob LouisPosted on: April, 12, 2011, in
Having a quality website really makes a huge difference for any business these days. More people use Google to find what they’re looking for than the Yellow Pages, radio, or print ads. That is why having your site designed by someone with a strong knowledge of SEO is important. It not only brings in new customers to your business, but builds credibility with your current customers. Many people also benefit from paying for targeted search engine traffic.
Setting up an eCommerce Site to Generate Online Sales
Having an eStore is great for selling many things including books, ebooks, clothes, music, food, software, technology, and other goods and services. A nice shopping cart gets more sales than a poorly designed one of course. Also, having a shopping cart that allows you to create coupon codes is a great way to bring in more business. It’s also a really great way to test the market as you can use different coupon codes for different advertising medium such as Facebook. There are many marketing techniques that can be used to get more out of your eStore, but no matter how you look at it, the first step is having a great store.
Selling Ads and Hosting Sponsored Links
If your site is getting a lot of traffic, there is certainly money in website ads. You can either show that space is available to potential advertisers, or you can approach them directly. Also, having google ads or other sponsored links on your site can generate money. Another great way to make money on your site is to become an affiliate for quality products and services, and then post ads for them on your site with your affiliate ID. You can even write reviews for them, and post them on your blog.
Social Media, RSS Feeds & Newsletters
One of the most important thing in sales is building relationships with your customers. Someone learning about your business for the first time may not buy something right away, although if you have a way for them to stay connected they will often buy something from you later.
Website Integrating Social Media
Having social media links on your website is a great way to get people to follow what you’re doing, and build a lasting connection. Facebook is hands down the most popular website at the moment, so finding clever ways to tap into that audience is essential. Having Facebook connect on your blog allows users to sign-in to your site using their Facebook profile, and also posts their comments to their news feed. This is just one great way to spread awareness about your business virally. You can also add a Facebook ‘Like’ or ‘Recommend’ and Twitter Retweet buttons to the bottom of each page/post on your site that will also help in your viral marketing campaign. Also, if you have a page on Facebook, you can put a ‘Like’ button for it on your website, and once people like your page, they will see all your facebook updates in their news feed, and you can even send them messages directly. There are many other things that could be said about integrating social media as it’s a science all its own.
Having an RSS Feed on Your Site
If you’re going to be making announcements or news updates about anything, having an RSS feed (Really Simple Syndication) is a good idea. There are many services which allow users to subscribe to these news feeds, so that they can get all the information most relevant to them in one place. Google Reader is my favorite RSS reader. There is also Yohoo Pipes. Once someone is subscribed to your RSS feed, they will receive whatever updates you make, and a well written article can certainly bring people back to your site for a purchase or brand you as an expert in your field. If you haven’t already why not subscribe to my RSS feed?
Newsletter Subscription and Building a Mailing List
Having a mailing list sign-up form is another great way to stay connected with customers. You can use it in conjunction with your RSS feed. When you post a news article on your Blog (RSS), you can send the same message out in an email blast. One great thing about that is, you can add a share button into your email allowing subscribers to share a link to the website version of your article on social media. This is a very powerful viral marketing technique, and one that makes having your own website very profitable.
Making Money Online Summery
Though building a quality website has some initial costs, you can think of it as an investment that will pay you back 10 times what you put into it. If you want to make money from your website, it’s all about choosing a web developer who can implement the right technologies. I am one such programmer.
